How To Save Money In School

1. Use Public Transport or Carpool: If possible, use public transport, carpool with friends, or walk/bike to school. This cuts down on your gas and maintenance cost of your vehicle, or even eliminates them entirely.

2. Buy Used or Digital Textbooks: New textbooks can be expensive. Many books are available used, or in digital format for a much lower price.

3. Limit Eating Out: Eating out often can add up over time. Pack your lunch daily and brew your own coffee/tea to take to school.

4. Get a Part-time Job: Have a part-time job and ensure you save a little from your earnings.

5. Use Student Discounts: Many businesses offer student discounts. Always ask if one is available, it never hurts to ask.

6. Do not get a Pet: While pets can be a great source of companionship, they can also be a big financial commitment. It may be best to wait until after school to get a pet.

7. Buy Only Necessary Stationary: Buy only what is essential for school and avoid unnecessary fancy stuff.

8. Save on Clothes: Buy durable clothes and only when necessary. Opt for sales, discounted items or thrift stores.

9. Avoid Unnecessary Gadgets: It may be tempting to get the latest phone or laptop. If your current gadgets are serving their purpose, stick with them.

10. Set up a weekly or monthly budget: Stick to it and avoid impulsive buying decisions.

11. Be Resourceful: Try to use the school resources as much as you can i.e library books, resources in the lab or technology they provide access to.

12. Share Expenses: Share the cost of items like textbook or dorm-room essentials with roommates or classmates.

Remember that saving money doesn't mean you have to cut out all fun. It's about choosing where your money goes and making sure it's where you really want it to go.
